Gym’s Defib Fundraiser

A Ruddington fitness centre has launched a special fundraiser to buy emergency, life-saving equipment for its premises. The staff at Compound Strength and Conditioning are aiming to raise £1000 to install a defibrillator at their gym, as there currently isn’t one located in the Brookside Road area of Ruddington. Ruddington’s annual Beer & Cider Festival makes a welcome return this week. “Ruddfest 2019” begins at midday on Thursday 30th May and runs from noon each day until Sunday 2nd June, with a full programme of events and activities taking place on The Green, at The White Horse Inn and at The Frame Breakers. New Shopping Precinct Plans Revealed!

Ruddington could soon have a chic, new shopping area – right in our village centre – if exciting proposals for a ‘mews’ style development behind Church Street get the go ahead. Plans have been submitted to Rushcliffe Borough Council by Ruddington based Victoria Properties to turn the area to the rear of some of its existing village shops into a brand new retail space – comprising four additional shops, three flats and two office units. When the Rushcliffe Local Plan Part 1: Core Strategy was adopted back in December 2014 things didn’t look too bad for Ruddington. Historic Footbridge To Be Closed For Repairs

One of Ruddington’s railway landmarks is set for a little TLC this week – to make sure it remains safe for the increasing number of pedestrians who now use it. ‘Fifty Steps Bridge’ over the Great Central Railway line was constructed well over a century ago (circa 1899) and still survives as a functioning footbridge to this day. More Dutton’s Hill Delays

Ruddington’s motorists are experiencing further hold-ups – because Cadent gas work on Wilford Road has returned! The company originally began tackling an unexpected problem on Dutton’s Hill before Easter. Emergency works started there to “…trace, then excavate to repair gas escape and reinstate where possible.” However, it appears the issue was not resolved, and the workers, their pneumatic drills and 24-hour two-way traffic lights are all back! Evans Pharmacy Has Moved!

Evans Pharmacy has moved to Charles Street, next door to Ruddington Library. The village pharmacy can now be found in new, purpose-built premises on the side of Dairy Cottage. The relocated Ruddington shop offers better accessibility for all, including a wheelchair ramp. It is now closer to the two GP surgeries and to the car parks within our village. Ruddington is soon to have its own very distinctive, feathered mascot – after ‘Ruddy Duck’ was given the go ahead at the full meeting of Ruddington Parish Council (RPC) last night (14th May). Tributes to Ruddington Golf Club Owner

The funeral is taking place this week of John Pownall – the man who has owned Ruddington Grange Golf Club for almost a quarter of a century. He died peacefully in hospital on the 2nd of May. He was 84. Our 6,515 yard Par 72 village golf course had only existed for eight years when John bought it from original owner Jack Johnson in 1996.
