Green 10 Diverted This Week

Passengers using Nottingham City Transport’s Green 10 service off-peak this week will find themselves diverted – and perhaps not able to catch their bus to or from the regular stop – due to resurfacing work on its route. From Monday 11th until Monday 18th February, each night between 18:00-06:00, Loughborough Road (between the Nottingham Knight Island and Boundary Road) and part of Boundary Road is being closed. Ironically, the resulting “circular” diversion will see off-peak buses running from Ruddington village centre down Wilford Road – a route which lost its…

Footpath Should Reopen Soon!

It’s hoped a closed footway, which residents on a Ruddington estate usually use to gain easy access to our village centre, should be open again before too long. The jitty between Elms Park and Elms Gardens was closed by Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) over three months’ ago when it was reported that a wall alongside it was crumbling (photos courtesy of Paul Witney). Bricks from it had fallen on to the path – so a decision was made by NCC to prevent public access on health and safety grounds. Barriers…

Suspected Thief Caught on Camera

Yesterday RUDDINGTON.info reported the latest Rushcliffe Police crime figures for our village – which indicated a high number of thefts of, and from, vehicles in Ruddington in late January. This is a trend which officers say has continued into February. Local police posted this new warning on their Facebook page: “Sadly Ruddington has been targeted again for thefts from motor vehicles over the weekend period, we as the police are keen to catch the culprit for this and will be completing patrols accordingly. The streets targeted this time are Woodhouse Gardens, Martin Crescent,…

Trader’s Thanks After Weekend Damage

A Ruddington businesswoman is thanking villagers who rallied around to help – after a window at her premises was smashed over the weekend. Lesley Wells, of The Old Bakehouse Tearoom on Church Street, rushed back to her workplace to survey the damage on her day off – after she was alerted to a possible “break-in” by a concerned resident who called into The Black Cat Café. Police had already arrived at the scene of the crime on Sunday morning (3rd February) and it was noted that a window had also been…

Hike in Our Council Tax Likely

Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC) is defending its proposals to increase Council Tax by double the rate of inflation – blaming ongoing reductions in Government funding, combined with a spiralling demand for social care services. Councillor Richard Jackson, Chairman of its Finance and Major Contracts Committee, said: “We’ve made significant progress in reducing the budget deficit we inherited when taking office in 2017 but it is fair to say that making savings is getting tougher each year – and will continue to do so. Regrettably, it appears that we will have no choice…

“Amazing” Support For Our New Village Market

Organisers of our new Ruddington Village Market say they’re “gobsmacked” by the number of both villagers and visitors from further afield who turned out for today’s inaugural event. They estimate over two thousand people braved the icy conditions this morning to see what the new monthly market at The White Horse Inn had to offer. A queue began to form even before the ribbon cutting at 9am for the official launch – with the first ten punters through the gate claiming their free cotton carrier bag especially designed for the…

Ruddington’s ‘High Street Heroes’!

On the eve of the inaugural Ruddington Village Market, it’s been announced that our village is to be the first in Rushcliffe to feature at the start of a special series of magazine articles – in a publication distributed to over 60,000 homes. The new Rushcliffe Reports feature is to be called ‘High Street Heroes’ and will start this April by focusing on the sterling efforts of Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP) in attracting people to visit local businesses in and around our own High Street and helping them prosper. The group…
