Exciting Year Ahead for Framework Knitters’ Museum

Ruddington’s Framework Knitters’ Museum on Chapel Street is gearing up for what it hopes could be its most successful year to date. Further to securing Heritage Lottery Funding (HLF) last year, plans are now afoot to put the museum’s ambitious redevelopment and expansion project – christened “A Right Good Yarn” – in motion. This will see the site as we know it transformed {artist impressions courtesy of FWKM – top and below}, with a new visitor route, enhanced interactive displays and exhibitions, a new and improved shop and café, and lots…

More Ruddington Roadworks

Motorists and bus passengers can expect delays to their journeys through Ruddington from today through until the end of next week. It’s because two sets of roadworks are taking place – beginning with Cadent laying a new gas main on Clifton Road from January 29th to February 4th. Until this work is completed, two-way temporary traffic lights are being used to control traffic – which are likely to cause hold-ups for residents, commuters and bus services between Ruddington and Clifton. Further work is then due to take place on both Clifton…

Ruddington Rail Depot Appeal Boost

It’s hoped Ruddington’s famous, restored High Speed Train won’t have to spend another winter out in the cold following a huge boost for The 125 Group’s Depot appeal. RailUK Forums has agreed to donate £4,100.01 – bringing the grand total raised to £78,142.96. That’s over three quarters of the way to their target of £100,000 to build a new all-weather facility at Great Central Railway (Nottingham)‘s Heritage Centre, off Mere Way. As we’ve reported previously, our resident Prototype HST Power Car 41001 and its six Mk3 coaches are currently subject to…

Elderly Woman Robbed in Ruddington

Ruddington residents are being warned to be on the lookout for a pair of female fraudsters after an elderly woman was conned out of a large amount of cash in our village centre earlier today (Saturday 26th January). In an anonymous post to the Ruddington Mums Facebook page, the woman’s daughter revealed: “Today my mum was robbed of £200 by two European women on Church Street, Ruddington posing as ‘charity workers’, shortly after she withdrew the money from the Post Office. I would not have known this had happened, as…

Navy 3 Bus Service Changes

Ruddington’s bus users are being reminded that timetable revisions to Nottingham City Transport‘s Clifton services begin this Sunday, 27th January, and these will have an impact for passengers who currently catch the Navy 3 in and out of our village. As we reported in December, there had been months of speculation in Ruddington that this route would be axed altogether due to insufficient passenger numbers – which would leave Wilford Road without any bus service at all and Clifton Road without a bus into the City. In fact, the Navy 3 has been…

Final Preparations for Ruddington’s Village Market

With our brand new Ruddington Village Market now less than a fortnight away, promotional leaflets have begun dropping through local letterboxes this weekend to try to ensure that even our less internet-savvy residents get to hear about it! This exciting, new venture, hosted and co-organised by The White Horse Inn in conjunction with Stella Dickie and her Ruddington Village Centre Partnership “market” team, is intended to become a monthly fixture, so long as this first one on Saturday February 2nd is a success. It’s hoped that it will draw locals back into our…

Alleged Fly-Tippers Have Vehicle Seized

Individuals who allegedly fly-tipped fridges on the A52 near Wheatcroft Island have had their vehicle seized by Rushcliffe Borough Council officers and Nottinghamshire Police. It follows several incidences of the items being dumped in the area, leading to the use of CCTV capturing those in the act during December 2018. It’s just been revealed the white van linked to the fly-tipping (pictured top) was confiscated on January 11th on Grant Street in Nottingham. This is the second vehicle to be seized in connection with illegal waste dumping – after a red van…

Council to “Dispose of” Village Youth Centre

Our former Ruddington Youth and Community Centre has now officially been put up for sale by owners Nottinghamshire County Council (NCC). This substantial building on The Green was most recently a fitness centre run by Project Body UK – the organisation selected by the County Council to take over the running of the former Young People’s Centre in 2014 when spending cuts meant that NCC could no longer afford to run it themselves. After reintroducing youth provision during the summer of 2016, the new tenants found they could not make it pay commercially. It has lain…
