Drivers Warned of January Delays

Ruddington’s motorists are being advised to expect travel disruption this January when tree maintenance work takes place in our village. Via East Midlands is warning that it will be felling dead trees and cutting back overgrown vegetation along the A60 Loughborough Road in Ruddington every weekday from the 14th to the 25th of January 2019 on behalf of Nottinghamshire County Council. For the second year running, householders in our village have reported envelopes stuffed with cash being pushed through their letterboxes over Christmas! Once again, the envelopes filled with £20 notes have been delivered anonymously – marked only with the words “R. A. K. Random Act of Kindness”. Among the recipients were Dee & Lol of Ashworth Avenue. Fly-Tippers Strike Again!

Despite the good news from Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) last Thursday that individuals who allegedly dumped fridges on an A52 lay-by close to Wheatcroft Island – and were suspected of being responsible for dozens of other fly-tips around Ruddington this year – had had their vehicle seized (pictured below), a similar incident has now happened again just a few hundred yards away! Tristram’s Tree-mendous Fundraiser!

A Ruddington-based artist is aiming to raise ten thousand pounds for two charities – following a project in his home studio which saw him produce 1,000 hand-made linocut prints in just ONE day! Tristram Aver‘s “1,000 Native British Trees” is a fundraiser aiming to highlight the importance of woodland conservation, but also to show how spending time with nature benefits our health and wellbeing, especially those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Bakery Approved at Ruddington Filling Station

Rushcliffe Borough Council has approved expansion plans for our Esso petrol station on Loughborough Road. The single story extension at Ruddington Service Station will allow them to introduce a bakery, an extra toilet and a storeroom, whilst creating more floor space for the retail side of the business (see below). The countdown has begun to the launch of a brand new Ruddington Village Market – which is set to start in February 2019. As reported previously on RUDDINGTON.info, the idea of an outdoor market began to gather pace following the formation of the Ruddington Village Centre Partnership (RVCP). Ruddington’s historic Framework Knitters’ Museum has announced it has a new Curator. Jim Grevatte is taking over the management role during exciting times for our village heritage site – which very recently secured Heritage Lottery Funding for its future expansion plans.
