New Community Facility to Replace our Village Hall?

A meeting of Ruddington Parish Council has agreed a plan which could involve closing and selling off our Village Hall to help fund the purchase of the former Young People’s Centre on The Green. In April, we reported that continuing vandalism to the disused Youth & Community building had prompted owners Nottinghamshire County Council to take some decisive action over the empty premises. Ruddington’s Green Belt Hangs in the Balance

The fate of dozens of acres of green fields surrounding our village now lies in the hands of the Government following last month’s submission by Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) of its draft Local Plan Part 2 to the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government. The Ruddington Green Belt sites earmarked by RBC for housing development were decided upon after years of consultations with residents, businesses and other organisations involving both the Borough Council and Ruddington Parish Council. Louis Sweeps Up an Award!

A 19 year-old Ruddington performer has received yet more national recognition by winning an award for ‘Best Actor in a Musical’. At the weekend Louis Gaunt lifted the The Stage’s ‘Debut Awards’ accolade for his key role in Rodgers and Hammerstein’s classic ‘Oklahoma!’ after playing the part of cowboy Will Parker in a production at the prestigious Grange Park Opera House in Horsley. Heritage Railway Fundraising Milestones Reached

It’s just over a year since we reported an historic moment for The Great Central Railway – when a new bridge rejoining two sections of the line divided for almost half a century was lowered into place. An exciting new initiative to encourage more residents and visitors to use our village centre shops, pubs, cafés, restaurants, takeaways and other traders will launch at the start of next month. The Ruddington Loyalty Scheme comes as high street retailers everywhere are facing more challenging trading conditions in these increasingly internet-dominated times. Time to Celebrate 50 Years

Ruddington Village Museum is celebrating its half century this month – by putting on a very special anniversary display. ‘50 Objects from 50 Years’ is a new one-day exhibition coming to St Peter’s Rooms, showing off unusual and rarely seen artefacts from the museum’s collection. A successful software company based in Ruddington Fields Business Park has announced the acquisition of a high flying American inspection software provider – for a cool seven million dollars! Ideagen Plc, which employs around 400 people and has its Head Office at Ergo House on Mere Way, has bought North Carolina based InspectionXpert – which is said to currently generate $2.8million in annual revenue.
