A kitchen designer from Ruddington is back in sporting action this week, taking part in the British Transplant Games. Mark Brown, of Grange Avenue, is competing over in Birmingham from August 2nd to 5th. The games, which have been run annually since 1978, will see over 700 athletes participating in over 25 events cheered on by over 1250 supporters. 51 year-old Mark suffered from the hereditary condition Alport Syndrome, which led to kidney failure at the age of 25. The annual “Summer Reading Challenge” is taking place during the school holidays at Ruddington Library – and it starts TODAY. The initiative, run by The Reading Agency, is aimed at 4 to 11 year-olds. The challenge is to read six or more library books between now and September 9th.
