Time’s Up for Tanners

Ruddington’s longest established estate agent has closed its village branch.

Opened on Pelham Street in Nottingham in 1975, Tanners Chartered Surveyors and Estate Agents had also been trading from 1A, Church Street, for over thirty years.

Tanners told RUDDINGTON.info: “The lease ended at the end of March and after much consideration and due to restructuring of the business the Partners decided not to renew the lease.”

At one time their distinctive green and cream “For Sale” boards dominated Ruddington’s streets, but things have been noticeably quieter for them here in recent years – with the advent of online house buying and selling, as well as other local agencies such as Thomas James muscling in on the local market. In fact, at the time of writing, Tanners has no properties listed for sale or to let in our village at all!

The company’s statement continues: “All of the administration has been dealt with at our Nottingham Office for over the last ten years and we will continue to provide a full service from Nottingham including Property Management Services, Valuations, Surveys,  Sales and Lettings.”

Tanners can still be contacted by ‘phone on 0115 9586 586 or by emailing tanners@tannersproperties.co.uk.

The departure of Tanners leaves another empty shop in our village centre

However, there’s a rumour circulating that Philo’s Deli next door is interested in taking the lease on this empty unit – so that they can expand their downstairs trading area into it. We’ll let you know if that gets confirmed!

UPDATE 10th April 2018: This is now confirmed!
