Residents are being warned to prepare themselves for further disruption over the next couple of weeks as two roads in Ruddington village centre are closed for roadworks – with diversions for motorists and public transport put in force. These are on High Street and Parkyns Street – with full details below. However, that’s only the START of it…
This latest work is in addition to the over-running highway reconstruction on Loughborough at the Mere Way Roundabout to create a suitable access for the new William Davis Homes development – which will not now be finished until Friday 25th June – three months behind schedule – and the traffic lights causing delays on Wilford Road because of the Bloor Homes development. (As previously reported, this will be followed a full closure of Wilford Road for ONE WEEK in August.*)
These are being added to by yet more new work on Flawforth Lane starting on Tuesday 22nd June – which will culminate in a THREE WEEK road closure there this August!**
The latest list of highway work scheduled for our village, with the details known so far, is below:-
- Monday 21st June at 9.00am to Wednesday 23rd June at 4.00pm – High Street closure between its junctions with Church Street and Kirk Lane – Western Power Distribution installing new electricity supply – diversion via Easthorpe Street – Loughborough Road – Kirk Lane and vice versa {map below}. NCT’s Navy 3 and Green 10 buses will divert slightly and will be unable to serve the ‘High Street’ stop during these days and times. UPDATE: It seems another road closure will now be required here, during the same times, on Sunday 27th July.
- Tuesday June 22nd to Sunday August 8th – Two-Way Signals on Flawforth Lane progressing into Three-Way Signals with Flawforth Avenue – in connection with Linden Homes’ “Blacksmith’s Green” development to enable the construction of a new junction, widening of the footpath and the installation of a combined sewer.
- Monday 28th June 2021 from 08:00 hours until 16:00 hours – closure of Parkyns Street outside numbers 1-17 – Western Power Distribution installing new electricity supply.
- Extended until Fri 25th June 2021 – Three-way temporary traffic lights may still be required at times – A60 Loughborough Road on the eastern side of the roundabout at the junction with Mere Way – To install a toucan crossing point, widen the footway, upgrade street lighting, install a new access for the William Davis housing development, upgrade existing surface water drain, widen approaches onto the roundabout, resurface the carriageway, add white lining and anti skid surface.
- Wednesday 14th July 2021 from 07.30am until 4.30pm on Thursday 15th July 2021 – A further closure of Asher Lane, from its junction with Distillery Street to its junction with Musters Road, following road widening. This is to enable Avant Homes to carry out carriageway surfacing works. The usual one-way restrictions along Top Road and Fuller Street will again be suspended. Official diversions are via The Green – High Street – B680 Kirk Lane – Elms Park – Moor Lane – Leys Road – Barleylands and vice versa (see map below).
- Until Sunday 1st August 2021 – 24 hour two-way traffic signals on Wilford Rd approx. 100m north of Paget Close junction – Site entrance construction, road widening, and drainage works the new ‘Fairham Green’ housing development. *This will be followed by a FULL ROAD CLOSURE from a point 120 metres north of its junction with Paget Crescent in a northern direction for 150 metres from 7.00am on Monday August 2nd to 5.00pm on Sunday August 8th for completion of this work. {The official diversionary route is via B680 Wilford Road – Landmere Lane – A60 Loughborough Road – B680 Kirk Lane and vice versa, as shown below.}
- **August 9th to August 27th – Flawforth Lane will be completely closed in connection with Linden Homes’ “Blacksmith’s Green” development – to enable the completion of the new junction, widening of the footpath and the installation of a combined sewer – with diversions (TBC) in use.
Residents and visitors are warned of delays and disruption for drivers and passengers using Kinchbus 9, CT4N Services 22 & 23, Nottingham City Transport Navy 3, and Green 10C/10X Rushcliffe Country Park/Ruddingtion Fields buses, and the NottsBus Connect Service 863 during the above work.
