Police Car Rammed During Ruddington Pursuit

There were dramatic scenes in Ruddington last night when a police chase ended up in a village centre cul-de-sac.

An eye witness reported to RUDDINGTON.info that an unmarked police car followed a vehicle into St Peter’s Crescent, but the driver didn’t realise it was a dead end. Nottinghamshire Police have confirmed that a vehicle was followed into Shaw Street before the driver stopped, got out and spoke to the officer.  However, he then got back into the vehicle, rammed into the police car and sped off.

The officer wasn’t injured in the incident, which happened at around 8.40pm yesterday evening (Wednesday 27th October). The vehicle was later found abandoned in Leys Road and was seized. Police are now hunting the suspect.

Police Community Support Officer Sherrylee Sampson, from Rushcliffe Police, says: “It is extremely fortunate the officer wasn’t hurt as a result of this incident. Our enquiries are ongoing, including checking CCTV footage, and I would urge anyone who was in the area at the time and who saw what happened to get in touch with police.”

PCSO Sampson adds: “We would also like to hear from anyone who may have captured CCTV or dash-cam footage of the incident.”

If you do have information which could help the Police investigation you’re urged to contact Nottinghamshire Police on 101, quoting incident number 693 of 27 October 2021, or you can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
