Neighbourhood Plan Gets Approval

Ruddington Parish Council has given its backing to a new plan which, it’s claimed, will give village residents direct power to develop a shared vision for their neighbourhood – and shape the development and growth of our local area.

It’s expected to pick up directly from our Ruddington Village Plan which was published this summer. With a Neighbourhood Plan communities are given additional influence to choose where they want new homes, shops and offices to be built and have their say on what those new buildings should look like. Issues which could be covered by the plan include housing, transport, traffic, business, leisure and the environment.

Councillors rubber-stamped the scheme last week – unanimously supporting a proposal to create a Neighbourhood Plan for the Parish of Ruddington. Next, a public meeting is to be held at 7.30pm on Tuesday 24th October in St Peter’s Rooms to explain the scope and purpose of the plan. It will aim to engage members of the community to form a Project Team and, subsequently, Focus Groups to carry the plan forward to a successful conclusion.

Parish Councillor Paul Reedman, who is one of those behind it, says: “We would love to invite all interested residents, businesses and other interested parties to attend this meeting. We would particularly like to welcome people who have skills or expertise in areas that would benefit the planning process, but if you don’t have these skills please don’t be put off. Most importantly, we want enthusiastic and innovative people – we want to produce a first class plan for the village of Ruddington.”

The Neighbourhood Plan Project Team has created a dedicated email address: ruddingtonneighbourhoodplan@gmail.com. Any suggestions, comments or queries are welcomed and, if you are unable to attend the meeting, you can register your interest that way – or join a dedicated Facebook Group called Ruddington Neighbourhood Plan.

TODAY the Parish Council has revealed it has requested the Parish to be designated as a Neighbourhood Area – one of the vital steps to creating a Neighbourhood Plan. We’ll keep you posted here on RUDDINGTON.info!
