Bus Fare Rises Postponed

Ruddington’s main transport provider has announced that it’s putting off all planned fare increases this spring. However service levels on its Navy 3 or Green 10 buses to and from our village will soon have to be reduced in light of the Coronavirus pandemic.

Nottingham City Transport says ‘unprecedented times’ have prompted it to postpone the rise in fares which should have taken effect from 29th March 2020. All bus, Easyrider, Robin Hood and NCTX Buses app prices will now remain unchanged until further notice – but the number of buses will temporarily go down.

Anthony Carver-Smith, NCT’s Marketing Manager explains: “As employee availability reduces due to COVID-19, NCT is no longer able to continue running a full timetable. The number of people travelling has also reduced as people follow government advice and avoid non-essential use of public transport.

He adds: “We recognise however that some people still need to travel and customers and employers need certainty from NCT on what services can realistically be provided.”

These are NCT’s current plans for Ruddington’s Navy 3 and Green 10 and NightBus N48:

Week Commencing Sunday 22nd March 2020…

A full timetable on all days.

Week Commencing Sunday 29th March 2020…

A normal Sunday timetable will operate on Sunday.

NCT will operate a Saturday timetable on all routes on Monday to Saturday. However there will be no N48 NightBus back to Ruddington on Friday or Saturday.

From Sunday 5th April 2020 Onwards…

NCT will review staff availability on a regular basis and will publicly announce each Friday afternoon the level of service it can operate for the next working week.

Mr Carver-Smith adds: “Firstly, a big thank you to all of our employees for their part in enabling us to continue running. We’re touched by the kind words you have sent for our staff and we’d like to publicly thank everyone who has got in touch. Thank you to our customers for your understanding. We have held off reducing services for as long as we can, but now find ourselves in a situation where we have no alternative. Thanks also from us to everyone for doing their bit to help the country through these difficult times.”
