Ruddington Patrols Increased Following Village Crimewave

Rushcliffe Police are reassuring householders they’ve increased their presence in Ruddington in the wake of a spate of criminal activity during the night in our village.

Officers confirm several recent incidents this week – concerning interference with vehicles and burglary – mainly between 1.00am and 3.00am. Ruddington PCSO Sherrylee Sampson says: “Bladon, Camelot, Vicarage and Churchill were amongst the affected. I have been in a plain car patrolling for the last couple of nights, just to see if there was anyone hanging around. Night shift response officers are aware and will be patrolling the area as well as managing demand.”

The confirmation follows two residents contacting RUDDINGTON.info directly say their properties were targeted. The first victim told us: “Our house in Western Fields was burgled in the early hours of Tuesday 10th August and our car stolen. This was apparently one in a series of five similar crimes committed in the village that night.” He warns: “Please be observant and take all security procedures.”

A second householder, this time on Ashworth Avenue, sent through CCTV footage of a man in a pink T-shirt and grey shorts walking up their driveway at around 8.15pm last night (Thursday 12th August). He reportedly tried their side door before walking away, but then returned around 4 minutes later, still acting suspiciously. However, the man jogged away empty handed when someone else walked by – seemingly followed by a little white dog with black patches.

Other householders with CCTV are being encouraged to check their footage for anything out of the ordinary and to remain vigilant. But PCSO Sampson advises: “We don’t encourage residents to put footage on the likes of Facebook, as it could interfere with the ongoing investigation. Ideally if residents could send footage to us we can put it out in a better way in preparation for moving forward with any potential offender.”
