Flawforth Lane Shuts Completely

The end of the Easter holidays heralds another period of disruption for Ruddington’s long-suffering residents and motorists due to the long-term junction remodelling work at the Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads. From Tuesday 2nd until Friday 26th April 2024 the current one-way system between Flawforth Avenue and Loughborough Road is replaced with the complete closure of Flawforth Lane at that point for Cadent Gas to complete its mains pipe work under the road. As well as this meaning a long way around for through-traffic, residents and businesses along Flawforth Lane and Flawforth Avenue, and…

Flawforth Lane’s Unplanned Partial Closure

The ongoing Ruddington highways project which began in July 2023 – to improve the layout and install or reconfigure utility connections at the busy Kirk Lane/Loughborough Road/Flawforth Lane crossroads – has entered its next phase earlier than expected. Following complaints from long-suffering residents and motorists, faced with frequent long queues through 4-way temporary traffic lights, early last month we reported the good news that the total closure of Flawforth Lane would only be actioned for around three weeks, from 2nd April until 26th April, rather than the three months planned originally. The not…

Flawforth Lane Shut This Week

As well as empty filling stations caused by panic buying, there’s another source of angst for Ruddington’s hard pressed motorists this week – the closure of Flawforth Lane. Thankfully it’s due to take place only from Monday 27th to Wednesday 29th September – substantially less than a previous three week closure sought last month by Linden Homes in connection with its ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development. Although the contractor did shut the road for a few hours by mistake, seemingly due to a misunderstanding (top photo courtesy of Ruddington Mums), in the end that work…

Flawforth Lane Road Closure Cancelled

A three week closure of Flawforth Lane next month in connection with Linden Homes’ ‘Blacksmith’s Green’ development has been called off. This had been requested from August 9th to August 27th to enable the completion of the junction into the new estate – also involving widening of the footpath and the installation of a combined sewer. However, given this is such a busy route in and out of the village, Linden Homes has now decided this work can be carried out using multi-way temporary traffic lights, rather than needing a road closure…

Man Arrested Following Flawforth Lane Car Thefts

Detectives investigating a report of two cars being stolen following a burglary in Ruddington have arrested a man as part of their enquiries. Officers were called to a property along Flawforth Lane on Monday 7th September after it was reported that car keys had been stolen in a house burglary and the cars then taken from the drive. Nottinghamshire Police has been working to establish the circumstances of the incident and are reporting that, earlier today, a 27-year-old man was arrested in Derbyshire on suspicion of burglary in connection with…

Flawforth Lane Green Belt Housing Plans

Linden Homes is the latest property developer to submit a full planning application to Rushcliffe Borough Council (RBC) to build a major new housing estate in Ruddington – even though the site in question has yet to be removed from our Green Belt. The plans have been prepared by Landmark Planning and propose 56 dwellings on ‘Land South of Flawforth Lane’ – the site formerly used by landscape contracting business Ecoplants. The five existing buildings there would be demolished. This land is one of the Green Belt development areas earmarked in Rushcliffe…

Flawforth Lane Closed After Diesel Spill

Motorists are unable to use Flawforth Lane in and out of Ruddington today following an incident just after midnight at the A52/A606 Wheatcroft Roundabout. Highways England said it was “due to an extensive diesel spillage. The A52 will need partly resurfacing.” The A52 was closed westbound between the A606 and the A60 for several hours overnight, but the agency reported it was partly reopened just before the morning rush hour today: “Lane 2 of two lanes is now flowing past the spillage and therefore the A52 is partly open.” However…

Flawforth Lane Closed Again This Week

Ruddingtonians are being reminded that yet another closure of Flawforth Lane is taking place this week – scheduled for five days from Monday 22nd October at 8.00am until Friday 26th October at 5.00pm. It’s so that Severn Trent Water can make a new connection at Barn Farm “…from a point 1250 metres east of its junction with A60 Loughborough Road in an easterly direction for a distance of 2000 metres.” A spokesperson has confirmed that this is a FULL road closure, including for cyclists and pedestrians – although emergency access will be…

Flawforth Lane to Close Yet AGAIN!

It’s been announced that one our key village access routes will need to be closed for yet MORE roadworks – despite already having been shut to traffic for over THREE MONTHS at the end of last summer and then for a further three weeks Ruddington-bound this January! A NEW notice warns that a closure of Flawforth Lane will be needed again at “Barn Farm” for five days from Monday 22nd October at 8.00am until Friday 26th October at 5.00pm. It’s so that Severn Trent Water can make a new connection…

Flawforth Lane Closes AGAIN!

It’s been revealed that one our key village access routes will need to be closed for MORE roadworks – despite already having been shut to traffic for over THREE MONTHS at the end of last summer! After it was first postponed on FOUR occasions the Nottinghamshire County Council Highways work on Flawforth Lane finally began on September the 18th 2017 but then over-ran by FIVE weeks until the 30th November 2017. NOW it seems even THAT wasn’t enough… A NEW notice (below) and updated information on roadworks.org states that ANOTHER three week closure will…
